About This Site

The purpose of this web site is to provide a glimpse into the heart of our new church. We have finalized our initial meeting location at the Archer Lodge Middle School.

Much of our ministry activity will be driven by the people who join with us in this new and exciting spiritual adventure. Sailing the boat while you are building it is always difficult, but almost all church plants happen this way.

We will start regular meetings January 10th, and have our grand opening January 24th. To announce our presence to the larger community we phoned 24,000 homes recently. Nearly 200 families responded, asking for more information.

We are planning another 20,000 phone calls in early January followed by 20,000 postcards to area homes. We have endeavored to give you as much detail as possible. Your best information will still be a personal conversation with one of us. Click “Contact Us,” fill out the form, and one of us will get back to you right away.

About Christ Church

How do we do things and why we exist.

We are committed to being relevant to the times in which we live. At the same time the church is called to be thoroughly Biblical. Too often Christianity today is "market driven," and pragmatic. Many who are un-churched feel bombarded by a culture that is shaped by market forces and narrow demographic branding strategies – even in church.

Our logo is a compass for a reason. Has there ever been a time when our countrymen needed direction more than now? Since the Reagan years, Christians have been hopeful that the right individuals would populate the seats of power in government, and somehow repair our lost virtue. If only the right personality would be appointed to the Supreme Court, or be elected to the highest office… Most of us have probably come to the correct conclusion – that government will never be the source of peace and security for the believer. Directing our neighbors to a personal faith in Jesus Christ is the real answer to these things.

At Christ Church we desire to simply live out the Christian life as we find it in the Word of God. Simple faith, simple obedience, love and respect among the members, personal growth, and care for the community in which we live.

At this particular point in American history a new demographic category has surfaced… the de-churched. These are individuals who at one point in their lives attended a church, and perhaps made a profession of faith, but now find themselves with no serious connection to things Christian. The Association of Religious Data Archives reports that 65% of Johnston County residents claim no religious preference. The remaining 35% do not necessarily attend a church. They simply reported a preference for one.

So when folks ask us, “Why start another church in a community that already has numerous churches?” We note that while there are many churches, thousands of people here do not attend one. We believe that Christ Church will have special appeal for those who have moved to our community from somewhere else. Folks in this category now comprise a majority of our citizens. If you have moved here from some other state, you already know what it feels like to attend someone else’s family reunion. Everyone is polite, but in your heart you know you don’t quite fit in.

We understand. Almost 100% of our core team has come from somewhere else. It’s our commitment to open our hearts and our homes to the flood of people who have discovered our little corner of the world.

Who should consider Christ Church?

Born Again Christians looking for a church home, and a place to serve.
Those who were raised in a church, but do not now attend one.
Those new to our community.
Those looking for real meaning in life by learning to apply Scripture to actual life.
Young families wanting to get grounded in a solid Christ centered, Bible teaching church.
Folks with a spirit of adventure who want their lives to count for eternity.

About our Leadership...

The Bible prescribes a team style of leadership for the local church. Depending on the church, these men are usually called either Elders or Deacons. We will call them Elders. These men will be appointed by the transitional leadership team when sufficiently mature individuals are raised up among us. Our founding pastor is Rev. Philip Spry. Phil’s biographical information can be seen by clicking the tab entitled, “Our Leadership.”

Group meetings...

Home Fellowships will occupy an important place at Christ Church. We are planning home groups in various locations around the community. The format will be a one hour fellowship/devotional in a home followed by a light dessert. We have found these to be great opportunities for developing friendships while learning the Word of God. These will be especially important since we will start in a temporary facility.

Where will we meet?

Six miles from Hwy 70 at Archer Lodge Middle School.  762 Wendell Rd.  See the “Directions” tab for the fastest route for you.
